We just had our first FLEXIBILITY AND TURNS Class this past weekend.  We had a pretty good turnout.  Dancers came and so did their parents.  Together we stretched until progress was made.  The girls learned a few new techniques to increase their flexibility.  These techniques can be practiced at home, on their own, and can be used for a lifetime.  These stretches will allow and increase blood circulation to the heart.  The second hour was based on leaps and turns.  Miss Tatyana focused on the basic principles of turning and introduces leaps including Grand Jetes and Side Leaps.  We reviewed the importance of deep plies, passé, and how turn outs can really help to improve leaps.

I am really proud of the young ladies who attended the FLEXIBILITY AND TURNS CLASS this past weekend.  I would proudly consider these young girls to be on the principal dance team.  This once a month workshop is not the average class.  Taking the extra class, and studying the art of dance outside of the weekly class time shows a strong and more importantly, a commitment to dance.  Principal dancers perform constantly and have to possess the qualities needed to represent the studio at all times, love dance, and be above average.  When the time comes to consider who will be principal dancers, the dancers who go above and beyond will definitely be considered.
